On 19 January 1942, during a routine training flight, this aircraft crashed on high ground
near Braemar due to poor weather conditions. All eight crewmen based at 20 Operational
Training Unit, RAF Lossiemouth, lost their lives. Six crew members lie at rest within the
Commonwealth Graves Commission Reservation, Dyce Old Churchyard, Aberdeen and two in
their home cemeteries in England. The two Bristol Pegasus XViii engines were removed from
the crash site in 1999 and one is preserved here as a permanent memorial to those named
below and all other aircrew who lost their lives in the Cairngorm Mountains 

Sgt B C Dickson, RAAF, W Op Air Gunner aged 22 of Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia Beaumont Churchill Dickson served as 404634 and was the son of Mervyn and Esther Elizabeth Dickson of Rockhampton, Queensland. He rests in Dyce Old Churchyard
Sgt W M Greenbank, RAFVR, Air Gunner aged 19 of Windermere, Westmoreland, England William Morphet Greenbank served as 1029811and was the son of Fred and Elizabeth of Windermere. He rests in the churchyard of St Mary's Church, Windermere
Sgt R J Jackson, RCAF, Pilot aged 21 of Toronto, Ontario, Canada Robert James Jackson served as R/83904 and was the son of James and Ella Maud Jackson of Toronto. He rests in Dyce Old Churchyard
Flt Sgt H J Kelley, RCAF, Air Obs aged 23 of Sidney, Nova Scotia, Canada Harry Joseph Kelley served as R/76125 and was the son of Harry J and Helen V Kelly of Westmount, Quebec, Canada and he too rests in Dyce Old Churchyard
Sgt M H J Kilburn, RAFVR, Pilot aged 19 of Farnham, Surrey, England Michael Henry John Kilburn served as 1380631 and was the son of Frank and Gladys May Kilburn of Farnham, Surrey. He rests in Green Lane Cemetery, Farnham, Surrey
Sgt R A Milliken, RAAF, W Op Air Gunner aged 22 of Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia Roy Alistair Milliken served as 404637 and was the son of Robert Anderson and Anne Brown Milliken and husband of Mary Patricia Donahoe Milliken of Des Plaines, Illinois, U S A. He also rests in Dyce Old Churchyard
Sgt J B Riley, RAFVR, W Op Air Gunner aged 23 of Askern, Yorkshire, England John Bernard Riley served as 995062 and was the son of Edgar and Edith Marie Riley and husband of Joyce of Askern, Yorkshire. John also rests in Dyce Old Churchyard
Flg Off J W Thomson, DFC, RNZAF, Pilot aged 25 of Oamard, Otago, New Zealand James Williamson Thomson served as 40067 was the son of James and Laura Jean Thomson of Omaru, Otago, New Zealand and he too rests in Dyce Old Churchyard
